Wi-Fi is slow

Improve wireless performance at home.

Wi-Fi

  1. Stand closer to the router and test again. Distance and walls often explain sudden wireless slowdowns.
  2. Prefer 5 GHz for nearby devices when available; use 2.4 GHz for longer range and older devices.
  3. Pause large downloads or cloud backups while testing. Congestion on your LAN can look like an ISP problem.
  4. Compare Wi-Fi against a wired Ethernet test. If wired is fine, optimize placement and band choice first.
